$1.1M Recovered in Unpaid Wages from Textile Contractor

CALIFORNIA—The U.S. Department of Labor has recovered more than $1.1 million in unpaid wages and damages from a textile contractor in Los Angeles.

This contractor, identified as Good Cash LLC and its associated entities (Good Cash Inc., Premium Quality Apparel LLC, and Premium Quality Apparel Inc.), along with their owners Ramón Tecum and Marisela Romero, were found guilty of intentionally denying overtime pay to their employees.

The Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division has been diligently working to locate the 165 affected workers who did not receive proper overtime pay.

The investigation revealed that these employees, who worked an average of 52 hours per week, were deprived of their rightful wages.

Almost two-thirds of the $1.1 million recovered has been distributed to the affected workers. However, the division remains committed to identifying and locating the remaining employees to ensure they receive the money owed to them.

The recovery of unpaid wages and damages was executed as part of a consent judgment obtained by the department in December 2023 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

The department’s Solicitor’s Office had sued the garment contractors and the owners of these businesses, alleging they failed to pay workers the required wages and falsified payroll records.

Additionally, it was alleged that they issued fraudulent checks and attempted to interfere with investigators by posing as workers.

If you or someone you know worked at any of these companies between August 3, 2021, and August 31, 2023, you are urged to contact the Los Angeles district office of the division at (213) 894-6375. This is to verify if wages and damages are owed.
