Grimmway Enterprises to Pay $427K Over Labor Law Violations

California — A federal court has ruled that Grimmway Enterprises Inc., a leading agricultural company, must pay $427,456 in back wages and penalties for labor law violations related to its operations in Washington state. The U.S. Department of Labor’s investigation found that the company failed to properly compensate workers under the H-2A agricultural program and overlooked essential housing and transportation standards.

Federal Ruling Against Grimmway Enterprises

On June 30, 2025, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington issued a consent judgment against Grimmway Enterprises, a California-based agricultural firm. The ruling followed an investigation by the Wage and Hour Division, which found that both H-2A workers and U.S. employees were underpaid because they did not receive the required adverse effect wage rate.

Inspectors also found unsafe housing conditions, improper transportation practices, and a lack of transparency regarding job duties and work schedules. The judgment requires the company to pay $207,456 in back wages and $220,000 in penalties while prohibiting further program violations.
