Bayram, who was part of The Bundox Restaurant Corp.’s staff from July 2022 to November 2022, has filed the lawsuit on her behalf and on behalf of all those who have worked for the corporation in the past four years.
The allegations focus on various aspects, including the failure to pay minimum wages, the omission of compensation for overtime and sick days, as well as the absence of mandated rest and lunch breaks, along with unjustified terminations and other labor violations.
The case takes a dramatic turn when Bayram claims she was unjustly fired after a peculiar incident. Allegedly, Cheryl Falchi, the owner of the Waterfront Restaurant, scolded Bayram for attempting to drink water during her shift. According to the lawsuit, in an incident witnessed by the entire kitchen staff and a waiter on October 30, 2022, Falchi demanded that Bayram log her time for taking a sip of water.
This triggered what is described as a “senseless outburst,” leading to Bayram’s employment termination. The plaintiff argues that this action constituted unfair retaliation, marking the beginning of the series of accusations now faced by The Bundox Restaurant Corp.
